Agecko Working in Partnership with Hambleside Danelaw

Recently, Agecko helped Hambleside Danelaw implement new practises with their waste and recycling.

Hambleside Danelaw is a British manufacturer of roofing ventilation products. They also produce Zenon GRP rooflights and Dryseal, a flat roofing system made from GRP. The company has long been committed to reducing the environmental impact of its operations. They are always seeking new ways waste reduction ways and to recycle. In 2022, Hambleside Danelaw received the Carbon Reduce ISO 14064-1 certification. This certification recognises their ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions in their daily practices.

Hambleside Danelaw’s commitment to sustainability

While reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill, Hambleside Danelaw already recycled all their in-house polypropylene, LDPE film and cardboard. However, they were looking to implement a new procedure for managing their GRP waste.

After reviewing Hambleside Danelaw’s previous practices, Agecko suggested several new processes for their waste reduction and recycling.

Now, all Hambleside Danelaw’s waste is segregated at source. Recycling collectors, including Agecko for GRP waste, have been sourced for each waste stream.

Innovative waste management solutions by Agecko

To further enhance the recycling processes at Hambleside Danelaw, Agecko provided comprehensive waste management solutions. These solutions improved operational efficiency and contributed to their sustainability goals.

By implementing these new practices, Hambleside Danelaw has supported the circular economy and minimised their carbon footprint. This demonstrates their ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.

The GRP waste is baled on-site into 600kg mill size bales which are then collected and transported to a Waste to Energy preparation facility in the Northwest of England. The bales then begin their journey to becoming RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel). It is then delivered to an ‘Energy from Waste’ plant for processing.

Energy from waste: A sustainable solution

Energy from Waste (EfW) is an energy recovery process that generates renewable power in the form of electricity, heat, or transport fuels.

This collaboration between Agecko and Hambleside Danelaw resulted in no waste being sent directly to landfill. Additionally, GRP waste now generates energy, which is a fantastic result!
